It’s been a while guys. Like, a long while. Cause Kinja mobile sucks and won’t let me post anything until now it seems. I’m not expecting this to post. But whatevs. Edit: seems it actually posted. Cool.
Last night I picked up a ‘93 Grand Cherokee. Base model. 4x4. Manual locks. Manual windows. Manual transmission. From the factory.
Needs a little love (and likely some light unbuilding) but this will soon be replacing Saint Jimmy as my daily. Good riddance. More to follow eventually maybe.

Plot twist: it posted

What is this Saint Jimmy of which you speak.

If it weren’t for the rusty rockers I’d be beating down your door and begging you to sell this to me. I’ve only ever seen one other manual ZJ!

The patron saint of the denial and a bunch of other stuff.

I’ve seen them online but that’s it. I missed out on one I saw on kijiji in southern SK about five years ago by a couple hours, and didn’t want this one gone. This one was up in Grande Prairie, AB, about 400km north from here. But totally worth the trip.
The rockers aren’t all that bad. The innerspring could use cleaned up a bit and POR 15'ed but there’s only a few bad spots in the outer, which has largely been mitigated. Or at least had the bad spots cut out and treated with some kind of rust converter. I suspect there may have been some deliberate trimming too, as the guy had some procomp 33x12.5 MT’s on it, which I didn’t want all that much in a daily, and which I don’t think would’ve fit on the UHaul trailer.

I was shocked too. As recently as earlier this week I still couldn’t even post comments.

Whoa. A base version of the luxury version of the base version. Crazy.

I still just see the ZJ as a second-gen XJ, like AMC intended. Chrysler just got weird and luxobargy with it.

Ooohh. Want.

Hey! Welcome back sir! Awesome find on the Jeep! That is the longest shift lever in the universe! :P
Also...NIVA UPDATES? :O

Haven’t really done much on the Niva. Still needs mirror glass before an out-of-province inspection. I won’t say I’ve lost motivation on it but it hasn’t been that far up my list of priorities, no. I’ve sorta been dragging my ass cause I know I’m gonna get hell when I go for inspection.
Re: the gear lever, it looks long, yeah, but it’s pretty typical for a truck or SUV. It does alright, throw is pretty similar to the XJ and Niva from memory. Doesn’t seem awkward at all.

The Saint was my Lemons Rally ride. Soon to be a Gambler 500 ride. It’s also my only registered vehicle right now... lol.

I distinctly remember this from earlier posts now.

I don’t Jeep, but that golden hour light makes this beautiful somehow.

Oh yeah, that was deliberate. I stomped on the brakes to take the picture right next to the only break in the trees for what seemed like ten miles so I could get that. We don’t get golden sunsets in the mountains that often.
